Question: If a minor is caught with alcohol and the police officer writes down their name but does not take them to the police station, will this go on their record?

Answer: The police officer has several choices in this case. Sometimes a warning is given and nothing else is done. Sometimes the name is put on a 'field card' which is used to keep track of people who frequently cause problems. The officer might also choose to write a report about the incident and then give the report to juvenile court. If through juvenile court some type of consequences are given for the offense, the record will show the consequences and will also show the person's level of cooperation.

I recently got my first MIP on a college campus. There was no warning given, and my breathalyzer was .064%. I have a court date soon, and this is my first offense on anything. What I am most worried about are my grants. Do you think they should be taken away form me because of this?

I had two friends get mip's on the same night. I believe their fine was about $100 w/1 alcohol class. They were also under 18, no license suspension or anything that severe. This is in CA though.

I just got busted with my second MIP, which happened only 9 months after the first one. My problem is that the judges who deal out the punishments seem to think that every minor busted for alcohol has a drinking problem, which leads to several expenses classes and alcohol tests. I mean, c'mon. I'm almost 20 years old. The cops who busted me didn't seem to care about my age, though. They're completely indignant to the problems they could be creating for us.

I just got an MIP, I'm 16, no license and I want to know what the penalties are going to be. I heard something about a $500 fine or 50 hours of community service but I am not certain. I think I should have had a warning since it was my first offense, but they were doing their job so I can't complain. I want to know if this will be on my record when I turn 17 and how long will I most likely be on probation since this is a 1st offense?
