Question: I heard that you can't be a designated driver if you were under 21. Is this true?
Answer: That is absolutely not true. Anyone with a valid drivers license can act as a designated driver. And people under 21 cannot legally drink, making them perfect designated drivers.
However, it can be more difficult to be a designated driver if you're not 21 since you cannot get into bars.
But if you're a really great friend and believe in ensuring your friends' safety, you can still wait in the parking lot and serve as a designated driver.

In missouri MIP means minor in possesion i assume it means that every where else too, this means you probably had alcohol in your car. Even if it wasn't yours it was still in your possesion. I think it is great that you volunteer to drive I suggest that next time you make you friends leave the liquor at the house or in the bar dont let them bring it in your car, and you won't get in trouble

Hi I am writing to say that I am being charged for MIP because I am a minor and I was a designated driver. The cops did not use and breathilizer tests he told me to talk to the county attorney. I tried and she would not listen to me at all. The I received MIP there were 39 MIP's given out and all that was there as designated drivers were fined as well. It really upsets me because as many tickets that were wrote, the cops watched everyone that was intoxicated get into vehicles and drive away. That is not right. Everyone complains about the number of deaths and alcohol related accidents, b

Some bars allow people in if you are 18 and some 19 as long as you get stamped or something and then you could play pool or dance and be doing something while waiting to act as a designated driver
