Question: When was the DUI law passed - is that a federal law or does each state have its own DUI law?

Answer: DUI laws are passed by each individual state. The laws are often updated and changed by the State legislature. For instance, the legal limit for alcohol in the blood stream while driving in Arizona used to be .10. It was changed by the Arizona legislature to .08. Many states are making similar changes, but the exact laws and punishments for DUI differ in every state.
