I went to USC for a year while my parents handled my finances. I just got a notice about an $800 debt, but no one can explain it. If I signed something at 17, does it still count?
It does matter that you were only 17 at the time. Under the law, a minor cannot sign a contract unless it is for an educational loan at a school in which you are enrolled or it is for necessities (food, water, shelter, etc.). However, the person may come after you once you turn 18. You may need assistance from an attorney to deal with the bill collector.
