It is illegal in the state of South Carolina to make, use, or possess a fake ID.
If someone were to alter his/her driver's license to provide false information, that would be a misdemeanor offense that is punishable by up to six months in jail, up to $2,500 in fines, and a driver's license suspension for 120 days.
If someone were to use a fake ID, that is a misdemeanor offense and is punishable by $100 in fines and up to 30 days in jail. Again, the person's driver's license would be suspended for 120 days.
