My name is john and im 17, i live in south carolina with my dad..ok heres the story. I recently dropped out of school because i made some bad choices the earlier part of the semester and my grades are irrecoverable. I know i messed up and i take responsibilty for that. Anyways,im going back to school in August because i want my diploma, i didnt quit because i was lazy i took a brief vacation to gather myself. well i have a job now i work full time at piggly wiggly. Prior to dropping out my father told me if i did that that i would have to pay for my own rent, water bill, light bill, car insurance, gas, everything i needed money for i would have to pay...and hes keeping me grounded while he is MAKING me stay here and pay him, so its like im paying to be punished. i would like to move out of the house, but what i really wanna know is if it is legal for him to make me pay him me not being emancipated, im goin crazy, thanks!

And if you couldn't handle school then you're gonna have a very hard time handling the real world hon. That's the honest truth. I was a hard head as well. I dropped out of school, got married at 16 then had a baby at 17 then divorced when my daughter was 3 months old and was right back where I started, MY PARENTS HOUSE! And now at 30 years old my daughter brings me homework that she needs help with, and I have no idea how to do the stuff.

Listen, I know how you feel. Yes I know I'm 30 years old, but it wasn't long ago at all that I was facing the same problems that you are facing now. And guess what? I regret everything I ever did wrong. And guess what else? I find myself (just last night actually) laughing with my dad about stuff my 13 yo daughter does to tick me off, then I realize I used to do the EXACT same things, and my dad used to ground me for those things, and I'd yell at him that I'd never ground my kid over stuff like that! lol, so you know it's just a matter of perception.

But just remember this don't go back home when u move out your problems are just going to get worse and if u drop out of school again everyone is going to look at u like what are u doing back here and u don't want that i was going to drop out of school and ran-away from home and i didn't have anyone to watch my lil sister so i didn't plus i wanna set an example for her that no matter how much you hate school never give up cause there is always someone watching u and doesn't want u to do bad well thats all i have to say

You need to continue to pay for all your stuff, he's not doing it to punish you but to teach you a lesson. I'm going through the same deal as you are but what you need to realize is, you asked for all of it. His actions are reactions, just remember that.
