    Laws - View Law: TRUANCY

(not being in school when you are supposed to be)

It is against the law for anyone between the ages of six and sixteen to not attend school. However, there are some exceptions through excused absences, home school, etc. Even if you miss just one class period without an excuse, you are considered truant.

If you miss school a lot (5 days, unexcused) you are considered to be habitually truant (ARS 15-803).  An attendance officer can enforce this law. The officer can give you a ticket requiring you and a parent to appear before an official of the court. (ARS 15-805)  If you are habitually truant you could be put on probation, have your driver’s license taken away, or have to attend counseling or educational classes. (ARS 8-323)

I dont see WHY you HAVE to go to school. Its YOUR life. If you dont want to go to school, thats your fault. The cops shouldnt do anything about this.

What a shame that parents feel their kids should be allowed to stay home. Truancy is the number one indication of future criminals. Do some research.

appearently its not the parents responsibility though.... itsa the laws responsibility to enforce the parents... duh... and arizona schools arnt preparing your kids for the rest of their likfe.. theyre preparing them for a bunch of standardized tests.. why go to school just to prepare for a standardized test in wich half the knowledge we need for it ends up not being used at all.. its just silly

If you play hooky everyday than your not going to get an education. You don't get an education your not going to go anywhere. It is the parents responsibility to make sure their kids go to school.

It is the parents option for education. The school has no input what so ever if the parents will not allow going to school.
