Speak Up! - View Question #17268

    printer friendly version

Question: What is the curfew in Sedona, Arizona? Also, what is the curfew in Flagstaff, Arizona?

    Answer:

It depends on your age and there are some exceptions for certain activities:

Sedona curfews (contact Sedona Police Department at 928-282-3100)
    Local ordinance 10-1-4 Curfews:
Under age 16, you must be at home after 10:00 p.m. and you cannot leave your home until 5:00 a.m.
Ages 16 and 17, you must be at home after 12:00 midnight and you cannot leave your home until 5:00 a.m.
After curfew you have to be either inside your house or in front of your house. You can be on the sidewalk, but if you go into the street or off of your property it is a curfew violation. There are some exceptions:

    • If you are with a parent or legal guardian, it is ok to be out after curfew.
    • If you have prior permission from your parent or legal guardian, it is ok to be driving through Sedona while traveling from one state to another.
    • If you have prior permission from your parent or legal guardian, it is ok to be at work past curfew.
    • It is also ok to be driving from home to work or from work to home, as long as you go directly there with no stops - even stopping at a convenience store would be a violation of curfew.
    • If there is an emergency, it may be ok to be out past curfew – for example, if you have to go to the hospital.
    • If you are 16 or older and you are married, then it is ok to be out past curfew.
    • If you are 16 or older and you are in the military , then it is ok to be out past curfew.

Flagstaff curfews (contact the Flagstaff Police Department at 928-774-1414):
Under age 16, you must be at home after 10:00 p.m. and you cannot leave your home until 5:00 a.m.
Ages 16 and 17, you must be at home after 12:00 midnight and you cannot leave your home until 5:00 a.m.
    There are some exceptions:

    • If you are with a parent or legal guardian, it is ok to be out after curfew.
    • If you are at work, it is ok to be out after curfew.
    • If you are at a school function, it is ok to be out after curfew.
    • If you are at a church funcion, it is ok to be out after curfew.
