Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

i am sick of not being able to find a company that will accept me! if bush is so concerned about child care i think he would agree to attempt and succeed in making it legal that 13 year olds can get jobs. some kids like me for example have to save money for 2 months just to get a pair of pants & shoes i want that my parents won't by for me. & i'm not talking about little jobs.i mean jobs that pay good. cuz how high the gas prices are, i was told i have to pay for gas to get to & from my job!PLEASE HELP US!

What if you need to make money to help out a good cause, that alone is a reason to let people 13 and up work. Since we are now 13 we need our independence and a job would help ourselves mature when it comes to responsibility
