Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

hey my name is jacky and i really really want to work to earn some money of my own because that will help me be more responsible and it will teach me how hard it is to earn money i would really love it if they would offer jobs to 13 year olds specially during the summer because it would be good if i could do something else other than stay at home well soon and hopefully jobs will be offered to 13 year olds

ok..this is so unfare that we as 13 year olds cant have our own job. i mean our parents always tell us if you don't have the money then you can't have it. if it's really important they might buy the things you need but come on. if we work then that mean's we can be independent an handle everything our selves.as soon as we can get a job then it's like we don't have to ask for money any more. i know that we might be on a tight schedule but i mean i want the money...i don't want to beg anymore..so preseident or people..change the law so 13 year olds can have a job to get a lot of money.
