Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

Hello. I am 13 years of age. The law is totally unfair. We teenagers should definitly be allowed to work. I recall a little thing called AGEISM!!!!! Isn't that a law or something? Or maybe I should put it in terms of HELP. Adults always want their children to HELP right? Well I say let us do that by giving us a small job. We teens always are in need to earn a little extra cash. Trust me, if you government people change this unfair law, so many teens will be excited. But for now sleep well knowing about a million 13 year olds are rejected their ability to prove responsibility to the world!!!!!!

Man I can't find any website that gives 13 year olds a chance to prove that they can actually work. What are we supposed to do when we need some quick cash or something over the summer. Let me tell you that we teenagers get very bored, and we need a chance!!IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!
