Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?
Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

Get a paper route. I'm 12 and have been delivering the paper every morning for the past 5 months. I make about $100 a month on my paper route.

There should be a list of jobs in your state that 13 year olds can do. It is only against the law to have a job at 13 that is not on that list.

nd my family out a little instead of lying aroung in dispair since i cannot get a job and my mom is struggling to make payments here and there for the house, my insurance, medicine, lawyers, cars, so many i cant explain and to go on with it my dad just got denied for disability now look at that i mean come on it is bad enough that we are going to get paid minimum wages when we start working at 14 just give us a little break and cut back to 13. I mean i need it and so many others need it too.
