Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

i think 13year olds should have jobs because some teen as in 13 are mature and responsible for things. i think 13 year old shold have jobs because what ever out in style they can buy it on their own without question and comets and with out parents telling you what u should and could you would be able to do what u want with it instead of hussling it is a long time for 13year old to wait a long time to get a job same with driving they should change the law back you can drive when your 16 but m not gonna get in to that but i think it would be a good idea for 13 yer old to have a job

I think that kids under 13 should beable to get a job but nothing that is too hard or a full time job. Just cause they are under a teen age does not mean that they can not have a job.So parents if you are reading this please trust your child to go get a job.
