Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

I too think it should be changed...the labor law. But I am looking for a job but i doubt if I could get one because my older brother can't get a job because my town is a bunch of old rich people. They think my brother is too young. I've been hoping if I could get one. mainly I've been thiking of what type of job to start out with first. If you are in the Gila county in Arizon and you have an open paying job, please try to contact me.

I link that it sucks so freekin bad that it is agaist the law that 13 year olds cant work. I think that they schoold change the law to the youngest you can work is 13, because there are plenty of responsible 13 year olds that would workvery hard. we need mony to its not like 13 year olds are made of money.
