Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

being a kid sucks. i can work just as hard as any adult, maybe even better.besides that i need to get out of the house and learn other things so when i get a full time job, i'll have better skills for it.some laws are super stupid and need to be chaned and stretched out a little bit to fit the changing times around it.i also need a way to contact mr prez but dont see a light at the end of that tunnel.

I am a 13 year old who needs to pay for things that my parents can not pay for. i really think it's annoying when they wont pay kids for doing like, simple arens, or helping out organize, and just anything to be paid for. not all that professional stuff, but then having an experience or something, i am willing to work gosh >.< all im asking.
