Speak Up! - View Question #197

    printer friendly version

Question: What civil rights and employment rights would I lose if convicted of a felony?

Answer: Arizona Law (ARS 13-904) states what civil and employment rights you lose. These include:

    1. The right to vote.
    2. The right to hold public office of trust or profit.
    3. The right to serve as a juror.
    4. The right to possess a gun or firearm.

A person may be denied employment by the state or any of its agencies or may be denied a license, permit or certificate to engage in an occupation (such as a Realtor, hair stylist, accountant, contractor, landscaper, etc.) if the felony has a reasonable relationship to the license, permit or certificate.

I understand you fully except I have a mom and a two year old sister but my mom treats me like crap and threatins to kill me, she has tried to break my wrist,my ankle, and she has thrown a block at my head. But she's the perfect mom to everyone else she never hurts my sister because i'd kill her and go to jail before she ever laid one hit on her in a heart beat but yesterday she tried or was about to beat my head in with a skillet and there was nothing I could do because she had my wrist and if I lay one finger on her it would be a kill kill first situation and she weighs over 200 pounds.

In 1995, I received a felony conviction. I find myself having to lie on my application and say that I have never been convicted of a felony. I really would like to tell the truth on my applications, but I'm afraid that no one will hire me. Does anyone know of any companies in Phoenix, AZ that will hire an convicted felony? My employment background is working in the clerical, hotel, telemarketing. I actually thought after all this time, my conviction would not show up on the background check. Any help would be appreciated.

how can a parent let a 15 yer old girl work in her restuarant. The little lady doesn't need money because her parents own the facility. If she wants extra money thats what allowance is for when you do your chores at home. What happens to the girl, the parent and the business if the state of Virginia finds out?
