Question: I am 16 and want to get an emancipation because my step dad sexually harrasses me and has been for the last 4 years. My mom is very sick and I could get paid paid for taking care of her and my sister every day. Is this a good enough reason to get emancipated?
Answer: If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
If you are being physically abused, you should immediately call 911 at the time of the abuse. Also, tell an adult that you trust (like a teacher, doctor, police, relative, etc.) about the abuse. You should also call Child Protective Services at 1-888-767-2445 and Childhelp at 1-800-422-4453.
