Speak Up! - View Question #18685

    printer friendly version

Question: I have a 15 yr old friend who's father has sexually molested him and a couple of years ago he raped a girl. He feels awful and needs counsoling but is scared of going to prison. What would happen if he told someone? And what might happen to his father?

    Answer:

Your friend needs to tell an adult what his father is doing to him. That adult can contact child protective services or your friend can call them himself 888.767.2445. Your friend should get help from a psychologist or psychiatrist. Anything said in these sessions is confidential, so long as it does not pertain to any harm your friend is planning to commit in the future.

Yes it does answer his question because he specifcally said that the counseling sesion is confidential. So therefore his counselor can't do anything unless he is going to hurt someone in the future!

That answer dosent reallly answer the question because he asked what would happen to the person if they told.
