Question: Do police have to get parent's permission to talk to underage witnesses, not offenders?
Answer: There is no rule or law that Police must get permission to speak with underage witnesses. Many police officers do however make an effort to contact parents because they feel it is a good practice to do so.

I agree 100%. That juvenilles and adult should be punished for breaking the law. I just simply don't understand fully, what determines the amount of time they " serve " as a form of there punishment. I have seen adults on probation for doing alot of bad things. I assume that was there punishment"probation". I just don't fully understand. Why and adult can get caught with drugs, run from the law and just be on probation. While a juvenille does what seems to be a lesser act and get an undetermined amount of time in a facility.

He was already on probation for stealing cheese. So the juvenille system and judge took him from me and said he would have to complete there program before he was released. I was only told it could be from 4 months to possibly a year. But I have heard they can keep him till he's 19. I do not understand how adults can get caught for DUI and have a set punishment for that. Why no set punishment time?

It's kinda funny when you hear people talking about stupid laws and speaking negatively about the police because of course these are the people who have had lots of contact with the police; here's an idea, don't break the law and the police won't have to take you to jail. Get a couple of years under your belt where you haven't been carted off to jail and maybe you'll have a better attitude about laws and the police. In the meantime, please don't call the police when your car gets stolen or an intruder is in your house; we won't waste our time enforcing those stupid laws. You handle it!!

It sounds like your mom may have a drinking problem as a start, but it doesn't sound like she's actively breaking the law. Your mom may need some help with her problems with alcohol. I would suggest you contact Child Protective Services and discuss the problem with them. Your school teacher or counselor can help you get the number, and it may not be a bad idea to discuss this with your school counselor as well. You should be able to discuss this issue with Child Protective Services without your mom knowing you called. Hopefully they can give your mom some help such as counseling.
