Speak Up! - View Question #217

    printer friendly version

Question: Can you get a curfew ticket if you are in a house and your going to stay there?

Answer: No. Although curfew laws vary according to which state and city you are in, most curfew laws only apply to kids under 18 years of age who are not in a specific location. For instance, walking down a street.

Also, most curfew laws make it legal for a kids to be out after curfew with written permission from their parents stating exactly where and for what the kids is heading. It's a good idea to have a note from your parents anytime you might be out after curfew.

I am from Canada, and to me curfew seems pretty stupid (ther is none here), it only fuels the rebellion that causes kids who want to break it to do so. If you dont want kids doing bad shize after 10:00 or whatever, you should be going after the dealers, or whatever else shows up in your neighbourhood after it gets dark. Restrictions don't help, getting to the bottom of the problem does

I think curfew is stupid if teenagers wanna stay out late they should be able to. The curfew here is 11pm for teens up to the age of 16. I am gonna stay out later then that regardless. They shouldn't have curfew here because teens run the streets all night long and the police don't say nothing so what's the point? My neighborhood is bad with violence but curfews aren't going to help. They haven't yet so I don't think they ever will.
