Question: Why is changing a sales tag shoplifting?

Answer: It is considered shoplifting because the person switching tags is paying less than the true purchase price for the product and depriving the store of the rightful amount of the product. Arizona Law is defined in A.R.S. 13-1805 (a) (3).

By allowing you to purchase the item for a lower price, it makes it obvious that the item in question must not really be worth the price that was originally marked. That $80 pair of jeans that you personally discounted to $65 was purchased by the store for less than $20! Who's robbing whom?

Of course changing price tags is shoplifting.. It is just like putting a 1.00 price tag on a 100.00 item!

We think changing the price of something is about the same as shoplifting(if your the one who did it)although you are paying for something it is still wrong and you should be punished. If you didnt change the price tag than its not your fault and they should have hopefully have camera's to prove it! THATS WHAT WE THINK!

I think that if you change the price it's not truly shoplifting because your paying for something.BUT THATS WHAT I THINK!
