Question: What is a moving violation?

Answer: A moving violation is when you are operating a vehicle and it is actually moving. This is different than receiving a parking ticket when your vehicle is not moving. Moving violations usually result in more expensive citations then non-moving violations.

The given definition is incorrect. You may also recieve tickets while operating a vehicle that are not considered moving violations. An example of this would be if you had a taillight out. These tickets are commonly called "fix it tickets"

Lock you up for being an absolute idiot. Why would you ever want to know the answer to such a question. You could be charged with various crimes, maybe even felony battery. Or if someone that get hit crashes and dies, you just got yourself a case of manslaughter. Worth it? I think not!
