Question: My dad does not pay his child support. When I turn 18, can I sue him for the support he owes?
Answer: Child Support is an award by the court to your mother. Only she can enforce it. If she is not receiving regular child support payments, she should get in touch with the local child support organization of the state in which you live. You can get the information for her, but she must be the party who brings the suit.
In Arizona you should call or write to Department of Economic Security, Division of Child Support Enforcement, in Phoenix at (602) 252-4045. There may be a local number in your local telephone book. This organization will file suit to see that the support and the arrears (overdue amount) are paid, and may tell you how to get in touch with the enforcement organization in another state if the parent who is not paying doesn't live in Arizona. In another state, call your local governmental information phone number, or even your state bar association information number.

Your father should be paying for your support, and no question about it! Whether he should pay the dues is a bit tricky, because the amount gets huge after some time, and he would probably be unable to pay it! He should start helping you as much as he can right now, and he does owe at least that much to you!
