    printer friendly version

Question: Can a parent spank their kid at any age before 18 years old? I don't mean beat the kid just spank them?

Answer: Arizona law does provide that parents and persons acting as parents, including school personnel, may use corporal punishment (spanking). The punishment must be reasonable and not excessive.

In Arizona a child is anyone under the age of 18, and until you are 18, you are under the care, custody and control of your parent or legal guardian.

The Arizona Legislature passed a new law that went into effect on August 12, 2005 that allows minors to be emancipated. However, emancipation is a very difficult process that few are eligible for. See the LawForKids.org Laws page for more information.

I am a pro-spanking mom with 5 kids (3 boys and 2 girls, ages 2 and a half, 4, 5, 7, and 9). While I do believe that it is necessary to bare a bottom in order to make sure that a spanking has its full effect, I do not understand why Amanda's dad makes her take off all of her clothes. This is not necessary at all. How old are you Amanda? If you are older than say 10 or 11, then I believe your dad is wrong for doing this and should NOT be doing this. Perhaps you should talk to him about this, and if he still continues to do this, then perhaps you made need to get some outside help!

I think spanking is ok but my dad makes me take off all my clothes and underwear and uses a belt. I hate him seeing me naked. Why do I have to be naked when he's only whipping my butt?

I'm 10 & the oldest of 5 kids. I've got 2 brothers & 2 sisters. My youngest sistr just turned 3. Yes my mom spanks us when we need it. When we get too rowdy or too fresh. She uses her hand on our bare butts.

Sorry but unspanked kids are usually brats--I'm glad for all the spankings I got when I was younger. Now I just get grounded, although if I screwed up bad enough I think I might still get spanked.
