Question: What is the punishment for Sex with a minor?
Answer: Sexual conduct with a minor who is under fifteen years of age is a class 2 felony and a class 6 felony with a minor who is over fifteen years of age. (ARS § 13-1405)
The punishment for sexual conduct with a minor varies depending on who the offender is and what kinds of prior convictions they may have.
In general, under Arizona Law (ARS § 13-604.01) the minimum punishment for a person convicted of sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree is a term of seventeen years in prison and registration as a sex offender.

i think the public needs to vote on this law. i am 17 yrs old and my parents just found out i m dating a 25 yr old guy. they went crazy. my dad beat me for it. he wouldnt listen so i did wat i was destined to do n i ran away. i love my bf with all my heart i will never give him up. we love each other and love conquers it all. wat im trying to say whoever makes these laws needs 2 put themselves in someone elses shoes!!!!!

I hate this law. Its so stupid. I was going out with an 18yr old when i was 14. And we broke up becuase he was afraid of going to jail.. We dated for about 6 months. I think i loved him. It hurts me to this day to know that it was all my age. Something i couldnt' help.

If this law is made by people who know so much more than us, then how come it isn't the same for every state? How come our country has so much more sexual violence than countries like Japan, where the age of consent is 13? Is it possible that it isn't because of age, but because of who we are as people? Our country is far from perfect, but we shouldn't try to fix them by making laws that do not help in the long run. Our country has a lesson to learn, and that is that you can't fix everything by using the law.
