Question: Is it legal to tie a student's grade to a parent's signature?

Answer: Schools can set reasonable rules and regulations in regards to grades and have wide discretion concerning awarding grades. Courts rarely intervene in a teacher's academic evaluation of a student. It is unlikely that a court would overturn the award of a bad grade because the student failed to obtain a parent's signature. Usually parent signatures are required on poor tests or projects anyway, so this would give a court even more reason to let a teacher tie a bad grade to a parent signature.

What if the grade is getting a signature on a gradesheet on which you have a good average? I think Parents should only need to sign low grades and such.
