Question: What is the penalty for assault and battery?
Answer: The laws are different in every state, but are basically a crime. Punishment usually depends on how serious it was, if a weapon was involved, was the victim physically injured, etc. In many states a juvenile accused of assault can (or must) be tried as an adult. Penalties include jail, prison, probation, fines, restitution, community service and counseling. The Judge considers the age of the person, their record and the seriousness of the crime.

My son was arrested 2 days ago for 2 assault charges. One person was his girlfriend which he did assault but his girlfriends roomate who called the police said she was assaulted too. The night before her boy friend had hit her and left marks on her and move out of the house. She told the police that my son hit her and gave her those marks. He said he never touched her or was even close to her. I think she should be in trouble for lying. The reason I say she's lying is because she had her husband put in jail saying he hit her so she could be with her boyfriend. How can my son prove he's inocent

it depends if he was attacking u or the unborn child, if he was attacking the child, its a Class A misdemeanor and he can be fined up to $4,000 and go to jail for up to one year. But its different if the baby is injured. i dont know what happens if just the pregnant woman is attacked, it might not be as harsh, but u could always lie and say she attacked your baby.....

Me and this girl fought and the police got called and they said that I was asslut but two teenage girls had fought. She also said that I had broke into her house and fought her. The young girl mother put her hands on before me and her had fought. This girl had wrote message on myspace.com before this fight had started. Now the police wants to get me on breaking and entering but the girl had pulled me inside of her house and that how the fight had broke out. They also are trying to get me on assult but it was between to 14 year old girls and I'm not the one that had started it it was her.
