Question: If married in Mexico is it legal in the USA?

Answer: If it is a legal marriage in Mexico, then it will be legal in the US. The United States recognizes marriages from other countries, provided that you followed the marriage laws of the country you were married in. If you were not married according the the laws of Mexico, then the US would not recognize your marriage as legal.

You have to be 18 in mexico too to get married and if he is a mexican resident and you are american it is much more difficult then just running away and getting married you need your birth certificate translated into spanish and apollisted and if you do lie about your age it will be void in usa. And yes If you run off with your boyfriend and your parents call you a runaway he is in alot of trouble especially if he takes you over the border he will go to jail a long time! look for help here to get away from your parents if its so bad, youth outreach groups or help from your state. Good Luck!

I understand where your comming from (joanna)I was in the states custody until I reached 18. I spent 12 years in foster care. I have been with my now husband for 7 years though when i was in care i was not allowed to get married. i was pregnant but that doesnt matter, just stick it out and hope they dont take your baby. also it seems like a long way away until 18 but the years pass quickly and before you know it there will be regrets and wishing you were 16 again. stay strong, keep in touch with your boyfriend if he loves you he will stay by your side. trust me i know mine stuck by me for 6yrs
