Question: What are the requirements to become President?

Answer: The United States Constitution outlines the requirements for President in Article 2. This article of the U.S. Constitution also outlines the many powers of the President and Executive branch of government.

Section 1 of Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution states that a President must:

    • be a natural born citizen of the united States
    • be at least 35 years old
    • have lived in the U.S. for at least 14 years

In addition, the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that a President may not serve more than 2 terms of 4 years each, even if they have only served as President for 2 or more years of one of those terms.

Hey T, it's OK to not like Obama (it is really OK with me), but he will be our president soon so it is proper to show him respect.

First off, (even though Obama is Christian) are you saying it is bad to be a Muslim? That is sure what it sounds like, I take offense to that, to say that someone must be full of hate. Also Obama is going to spread our wealth. I worked hard for my wealth, he can spread his own. His policies would not be socialism, but they would be pretty darn close.

My only questions is this: If Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen of the US then why was he permitted to run for the presidency? Has the Constitution been amended? If not, then it is not legal and lawful.

The people that posted the comments about Obama not being a natural born citizen are exposing their ignorance. Last I checked Hawaii was a part of the United States.

I am thrilled to have Barak Obama as our next president. He will be a great one. After reading his two books: Dreams from my Father, and the Audacity of Hope, I knew I wanted to support him. Those who say he is a muslim are just being hateful. I have read his chapter on how he came to his faith in Christ--he is just as much a Christian as I am. He has many skills to make him a great president. He understands the world order of things they way Bush NEVER did and which McCain didn't display much understanding for either. Yes, we CAN and now we have a leader who can help us achieve that.
