Question: I'm under 18 and like to race my 340sx. If street race, what are the consequences?

Answer: Regardless of if your 340sx is a motorcycle, a car or a truck, if you're caught racing on the public streets, or even if you are driving recklessly in a private area like a parking lot, you face criminal sanctions for both speeding and reckless driving, which comes with a fine and possible jail time. You could also lose you license.

Arizona Law defines 'Drag Racing' as: (a) The operation of two or more vehicles from a point side by side at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to outdistance each other; or (b) The operation of one or more vehicles over a common selected course and from the same point for the purpose of comparing the relative speeds or power of acceleration of the vehicle or vehicles within a certain distance or time limit.

'Racing' is defined as the use of one or more vehicles in an attempt to outgain or outdistance another vehicle or prevent another vehicle from passing.

Both are specifically against the law in Arizona (ARS §28-708), and if convicted twice in a 24-month period, there a mandatory jail sentence is required.

I do street race, every weekend and every week day that I get the chance too. I understand the consequenses. I have also recieved multiple tickets and court appearances because of it. Yet I still do it. Im addicted. No cops will stop me, I cannot stop myself. There are worse things that I could be doing besides street racing though.

Look,I race..Not often, but I do street race. But some of the things said on here are pretty rediculous. For one,the guy that said street racing is dangerous and kills people, and by going to the track your safe.Thats foolish. The track is SAFER.Not safe.No car will pull out in front of you.Thats the only thing safe about the track. As for you kids in here talking about racing and the cops cant do anything about it.You guys really need to grow up.The cops can do plenty about it.I dont know why ya'll get together in such large groups like that, and dont just go to the track. The cops cant touch you

I attend illegal street races almost every weekend1 I know the consequences and understand it is dangerous..but no matter what laws are passed or if the cops come..they will not be able to stop street racing..too many teenagers are into it..its too expensive to go to the Track all the time to race! I think aslong as you are careful and dont let any passangers inside the vehicle while racing..What is the big deal?

The point of street racing is to race in the street not in a speedway. One more thing, what makes street racing exiting its the adredelin rush and knowing that theres a danger is what makes it exiting. So the police can do what ever they want to try to stop us but we will always find away to percevire and the cops cant do nothing about it.

Hi, I wanted to comment on your street racing messages. The problem is not blocking off the street, it's that if you got into an accident the city, police, and anyone who helps put on the race can easily be sued, regardless of whether or not you sign a waiver. This is not just true in Canada, where I live, but everywhere.
