Question: I'm under 18 and like to race my 340sx. If street race, what are the consequences?

Answer: Regardless of if your 340sx is a motorcycle, a car or a truck, if you're caught racing on the public streets, or even if you are driving recklessly in a private area like a parking lot, you face criminal sanctions for both speeding and reckless driving, which comes with a fine and possible jail time. You could also lose you license.

Arizona Law defines 'Drag Racing' as: (a) The operation of two or more vehicles from a point side by side at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to outdistance each other; or (b) The operation of one or more vehicles over a common selected course and from the same point for the purpose of comparing the relative speeds or power of acceleration of the vehicle or vehicles within a certain distance or time limit.

'Racing' is defined as the use of one or more vehicles in an attempt to outgain or outdistance another vehicle or prevent another vehicle from passing.

Both are specifically against the law in Arizona (ARS §28-708), and if convicted twice in a 24-month period, there a mandatory jail sentence is required.

I think that if we as teen sign enough petitions to have out own time at the track or a specific place we would not have anymore problems of illegal racing. And no its not going to stop racing is always going to be there. Like this past saturday I went to the illegals and there were more than 100 cars there. The cops could not do much about it, because if they would use more force the cops could cause accidents to happen. We race here in Industrial zones. This is the solution to this problem!

I think that street racing is illegal because it is so dangerous. Many innocent lives have been taken because of it. Now there is legal races at the Portland International Raceway. You have to pay for, but you will not have to worry about getting caught or killing yourself or taking the lives of your passengers or takin innocent lives away.

I think that movies should not be penalized for influencing "street racing". We can't blame movies for what people decide to do. If that were the case, then why make movies. What about movies with drugs and sex? Should they be banned because our society needs a source of blame? We should look at society as a whole and not blame entertainment sources. Movies, videos, etc. are meant for entertainment.
