    printer friendly version

Question: If a minor is caught with alcohol and the police officer writes down their name but does not take them to the police station, will this go on their record?

Answer: The police officer has several choices in this case. Sometimes a warning is given and nothing else is done. Sometimes the name is put on a 'field card' which is used to keep track of people who frequently cause problems. The officer might also choose to write a report about the incident and then give the report to juvenile court. If through juvenile court some type of consequences are given for the offense, the record will show the consequences and will also show the person's level of cooperation.

I am a college student in San Marcos.I recieved my first MIP at my friends house when I walked out side to show another friend where to park when a cop walked up to me and gave me my MIP. This was my first offense with a fine of 325 bucks, 8 hours community service,an alchohol class, and a suspended license for a month. FIRST TIME EVER IN TROUBLE! On top of that, it cost 170 to get my license back in a month. San Marcos would go under if they werent so college kid hungry. This little town revolves around how much money they can get out of your family.

I doubt you even get this. But just in case i thought i would give you some advice. I was just in court today with a charge of minor with possesion of Acholol. I have no other criminal records at all, i told the judge that without a lawyer and she dropped all charges. I have a schoralship myself and i told that having this on my record could hurt me and she basically told me that all i have to do is not get caught within 6 months or my 21st b-day which is in 4 months and i will be fine. the ticket was dropped and the court costs were dropped too. my parents didn't find out about it either. goo
