Question: Does a minor have the right, when pregnant, to keep the baby against parental consent?

Answer: In Arizona, the parents of a pregnant minor cannot legally force their child to have an abortion. If the minor chooses to give birth and not place the baby with adoptive parents, the minor's parents are NOT legally obligated to support the baby. If the minor and the baby's father and any other willing relatives cannot or will not support or care for the baby, the government may step in. This could result in the baby becoming Dependent. Some Dependent children live with birth parents or other relatives but are subject to government monitoring. Other Dependent babies are placed in foster care.

I am a mother of two, wife, college student and very involved parent in my boy's school. I had my first son in 10th grade and my second in the 12th grade. I am still happily married with their father and persuing a career in law. I am not suggesting that every teen should go out and have babies and marry. But for those that are undecided on wether they should keep their babies I say that that if your heart tells you to do it, keep the child. There is nothing better than a wanted child by their biological parents. What has been getting me through is my faith in god and perseverence.

In reading these comments, more than half of you "kids" cannot even spell properly. Yet, you think you're responsible to have a child. Giving a child up for adoption is not a failure on your part. In fact, it is success that you cared enough about the child you are carrying to do the right thing for that child. I cannot have children with my husband. Adoption is our only choice. Think about what you're doing for that child's future. Really, who's in a better position to raise the child, my husband and I who have jobs. Or, you who doesn't even have a high school education and no job?
