    printer friendly version

    Question: What crimes can get the death penalty?

    Answer: In Arizona the only crime that gets the death penalty is First Degree Murder.

    There are two types of first degree murder;

    1) premeditated murder, and

    2) felony murder, which is a death which occurs while the accused is committing another offense, including sexual conduct with a minor, sexual assault (rape), child molest, certain drug offenses, kidnapping, burglary, arson, robbery, escape, child abuse, unlawful flight from law enforcement. Basically if you are in the process of committing one of the above crimes, and you cause the death of a person, you are guilty of first degree murder, for which you could receive the death penalty.

    Many of you might say that the death penalty is wrong and that we shouldnt kill anyone...but think about all of those people who have suffered when the person who has killed their mother, their daughter or maybe their sister is waltzing back into the doors of society as if nothing has happened. How do you think they would feel to know that the same person who caused them to suffer will be capable of committing the same crimes again and will be able to make someone else suffer. So the death penaly is necessary for persons to get closure. When they are in prison, they are literally enjoying life

    i think that if they kill someone they should have to stay in jail there whole life because it would b worse than put to sleep, they would have to live with it every day and they wouldnt be able to get out of their punishment as fast.

    the death penalty should be enforced on those who have killed someone beacause if you take a life yours should be taken also..unless you kill someone in self defense

    tom i disagree with wat u said ...if someone rapes someone thats a major crime! and efects the victims life forever! The person is just as insane for raping someone that killing them! If you rape someone and you can prove it then he should be on death penalty
