    printer friendly version

    Question: What crimes can get the death penalty?

    Answer: In Arizona the only crime that gets the death penalty is First Degree Murder.

    There are two types of first degree murder;

    1) premeditated murder, and

    2) felony murder, which is a death which occurs while the accused is committing another offense, including sexual conduct with a minor, sexual assault (rape), child molest, certain drug offenses, kidnapping, burglary, arson, robbery, escape, child abuse, unlawful flight from law enforcement. Basically if you are in the process of committing one of the above crimes, and you cause the death of a person, you are guilty of first degree murder, for which you could receive the death penalty.

    I feel that the death penalty is a complete slap in the face of democracy. The whole idea behind america is life, liberty and the persuit of happiness. Even if someone does kill someone in the most horible way possible, who has the power to say that they should die for it. The system is based on eye for an eye. The only thing it accomplishes is two deaths and ruining all hope to make things right. I believe strongly that anyone who commits murder should be punished, rehabilitated and given a chance to make things right. Besides whats worse than living a life knowing that you took another.

    Whats up!!! The death penalty is the only way to take care of murder, why nt kill the Bast*** that killed others for basically no reason! Why dont you just give them a good beating instead of killing them, no they have to kill them so i feel that they should be punished for what they do.... they brought it upon themselves so they should live with the consequences!!!!

    i know that people who get sent to jail or prison basically get a free living because they get free food, free education, acess to gym equipment which they don't have to pay for, T.V, which is free. the only that's bad is like an 4 by 10 cell and they can't leave the grounds. they deserve to die. but i also think that the only reason someone should be killed is if they committed a murder or made a felony murder.
