    printer friendly version

Question: Does a minor have the right, when pregnant, to keep the baby against parental consent?

Answer: In Arizona, the parents of a pregnant minor cannot legally force their child to have an abortion. If the minor chooses to give birth and not place the baby with adoptive parents, the minor's parents are NOT legally obligated to support the baby. If the minor and the baby's father and any other willing relatives cannot or will not support or care for the baby, the government may step in. This could result in the baby becoming Dependent. Some Dependent children live with birth parents or other relatives but are subject to government monitoring. Other Dependent babies are placed in foster care.

i completely agree with both comments... abortion is wrong... nothing will EVER change my mind on that... if youre responsible to have sex, then youre responsible enough to deal with the consequences... a baby shouldnt be a bad thing... it should be a very happy time... but if you truly care for this baby, and you know you can not support him/her, then adoption would be the best, i believe... that way the child can find someone who can care for him/her properly... if you have been raped, and become inpregnated, and youre not ready for a child, please dont have an abortion... this child deserve

If I ever get pregnant, I'm not having an abortion or giving the child up for adoption! That's not fair to the unborn child, they havent even had a life. If you know you cant take care of the child, then thats a different story, but you should be there for that child no matter what! It was your choice to have sex, its your RESPONSIBILITY to have some part of the childs life.
