Question: Can a parent spank their kid at any age before 18 years old? I don't mean beat the kid just spank them?
Answer: Arizona law does provide that parents and persons acting as parents, including school personnel, may use corporal punishment (spanking). The punishment must be reasonable and not excessive.
In Arizona a child is anyone under the age of 18, and until you are 18, you are under the care, custody and control of your parent or legal guardian.
The Arizona Legislature passed a new law that went into effect on August 12, 2005 that allows minors to be emancipated. However, emancipation is a very difficult process that few are eligible for. See the LawForKids.org Laws page for more information.

I agree with spanking and the law for younger childen, but I think it should be changed so that the maximum age you can be spanked is 15. I mean I'm 17 and I still have to take down my pants to go over my moms knee while she spanks my butt red. It not only hurts but it's embarassing as heck, especially in front of the whole faimly. Someone please change this law.

When i was a kid my dad would take to my room and he would give me 20 warm up spanks and then he would give 40 or 50 spanks with the belt or hairbrush ,paddle,or a wooden spoon on the bare bottom. I have three kids my oldest is 12 my middle child is 9 my yougest is 7. They all get there bare butts spanked with a paddle 20 to 30 times.They also get 5 to 10 warm up spanks.

These people that say "don't spank" are the same ones that will glare at you when you're out and your kids act like monsters. I don't want a brat for a child and when everything else has been tried and has failed, he will get spanked. He is defiant and just yesterday was kicked out of school for the day because of his disrespectful behavior toward his parapro. What's the answer then? Gr
