Question: Are there laws concerning how many hours of homework a school is allowed to assign?

Answer: No. There are no laws that regulate how much homework can be assigned. But many school districts have policies that set guidelines for homework based on grade level. A student or parent concerned about homework should ask the school principal if the school district has guidelines.

Homework should be illegal, yes I play football. It's not just that, i know kids all around the world that hate homework and want to make it illegal. Homework should be illegal because when your at your house im sure you'd want to be with your family or practice an extracaricular activity instead of righting long-a$$ problems on paper we'll never use in our life. Even if teachers give homework, it should be at most 10-15 problems. So keep in mind that when your fagmo teacher gives you homework, think of what you could be doing at your house besided "nothin essential to life(homework)"

Okay people, some of you said stuff about paying attention in classes and there is too much homework. I'm totally against it, but I think some of you need some. Especially in subjects of Spelling and English. The word "certain" is not spelled sertan. Also, when you're talking about somebody's.... I don't know, object, or what they own. The word their should be used, not there. "There" is a place. I am only a Freshmen, I'm not a geek or anything. All you guys are doing is making a point FOR homework. I'm not trying to "slam" anybody, but if the teachers read these comments, then they will see t

On average, I get about 3.5 4 hours of homework everyday. The work that I get is senseless, for the most part, and only benefits me by giving me a grade. Why arent there any laws regulating the amount of (home) work teens can do, but there are laws regulating the amount of (paid) work that we do; no matter what its work. In California a kid of the age 15 can only work 3 hours of paid work, that is thirty - ninety minutes less than the average of homework I get per day. HOW does this make sense?
